Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Irvine, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

After several unsuccessful attempts to visit for dinner, we finally had the chance to dine here recently, and I left with mixed impressions. The restaurant was extremely busy, which is usually a positive sign and speaks to its popularity. The atmosphere was lively, and our server was kind and attentive; however, I felt the service became a bit too directive at times. Rather than helping us understand the menu and guiding us toward choices that suited our preferences, I felt somewhat pressured into ordering certain items, which made the experience slightly uncomfortable. In general, I have always been hesitant about AYCE concepts because quality can sometimes suffer compared to premium Korean BBQ establishments. Unfortunately, in recent years, many restaurants — even higher-end spots — seem to be reducing quality while increasing prices. At the same time, I do understand the realities of today’s restaurant industry, including rising operational and labor costs, so I want to approach this review fairly. There were definitely highlights to the meal. The side dishes were enjoyable, particularly the kimchi, seaweed salad, and cucumbers, all of which were fresh and flavorful. The prime

First time ever leaving an all-you-can-eat KBBQ restaurant completely empty-handed and hungry. We started off with a male server with glasses who was professional and perfectly fine. Suddenly, an older female server with short black hair and glasses, and the experience went downhill fast. She was incredibly rude. When we tried to order our next round, she bluntly told us we had to finish every single thing on our table before she would let us order the next item. The food pacing here is already incredibly slow, so normally you want to order ahead so you can eat while waiting. Instead, it felt like she was intentionally gatekeeping the food. She didn't even mention this arbitrary "rule" until we asked where our ordered items were—if we hadn't spoken up, she would have just left us sitting there. We only had two plates on the table and were nowhere near full, so it wasn't a matter of wasting food. If you like to cook and enjoy a few different types of meat at the same time, this place will not let you do that. To make matters worse, the restaurant interior was freezing cold and completely uncomfortable. Terrible pacing, gatekeeping tactics, and awful service. Avoid this place.

I usually post about food taste but from the moment I set foot in Shik Do Rak restaurant, I kept being bothered by how poorly maintained this place is. The floor is sticky, the tables hold with box tape, the vents are rusty, the paint is coming off the appliances, the plastic water bottles have being reused so many times there is dirt embedded in the plastic, the cabinets finishing is cracked in so many places, the fake outdoors photo behind the window to give the impression of nature have completely faded away, the bathrooms are dirty... and I can't help to wonder : is the same amount of attention given to the kitchens cleanliness ? The selection in the small plates you are given in the beginning of the meal are încredibly limited; you'd normally see noodles, seaweed salad, etc. but not here. just an overspicy kimchi and pickled radish. The meat is okay. The cooking plate is crooked so juices and sauces only accumulate to one spot...

They have 3 different types of all you can eat bbq menus. They have last call 30 minute before closing, so 11 pm. Their happy hour is from 10 pm- 11:30 ( closing) Overall not bad for the price point. Service staff is nice and attentive. Only question I had was why they went around and lowering the heat on the grill for everyone, just for every table around me to manually just turn the heat back on 😂. The entire service everyone was just turning the heat back on, but overall not bad for the price point!

Went to this location vs Garden Grove to save a bit of time on the road, but we should have driven further. This place felt a bit tired and the food didn’t seem as good as the other location. The staff was relatively helpful but not as attentive or proactive. We got the middle AYCE option. Our experience: Had to wait a while on a table even though the place was pretty empty. No big deal, we got seated after about 10 minutes. The banchan servings are very small. You can get refills but the servings go fast. Can understand you don’t want to waste, so not a big deal. They didn’t place salad on the table, didn’t even offer it. We saw it on the cart and had to ask for it. The service button was on the wall, but didn’t work. Just had to flag people down throughout the meal. The main server was nice whenever we got his attention. We ordered three meats to start - brisket, plain pork belly and marinated boneless short ribs. Brisket was a decent amount, got one slice of pork belly and two strips of short rib. Had to order more quickly but had to flag someone down. The steamed egg was small and not fully cooked. Didn’t order another. The soybean paste stew was decent but very watery.
